Handy Advice for Hospitality Hopefuls

The education and training body, National Skills Academy Hospitality, has launched an industry handbook, providing those looking for employment within the competitive marketplace with some much-needed tips of the trade.
The Handbook 2010 is aimed at businesses of various sizes within the hospitality sector, including restaurants and hotels, as well as fast food establishments, pubs and cafés.
In addition to providing insights into the field of hospitality, the reference guide also includes advice, case studies and a review of the best training and onward development facilities the industry has to offer. Over and above these elements, the handbook also provides details of newly-endorsed management solutions for the hospitality sector and of its own new Training Centre.
Speaking of the industry’s exacting standards and the prerequisite for excellence, chief executive of National Skills Academy Hospitality, David McHattie, said,”World-class service is within the reach of all hospitality businesses, irrespective of size and location, but requires more than just a simple last generation customer service course.”
With the University and College Admissions Service having just announced that as many as 200,000 post A-level school leavers could miss out on a place at university, it is anticipated that competition within the hospitality industry’s employment market could reach new heights.
Meanwhile Travelodge has opened a training facility to equip individuals with the necessary skills for positions within the hospitality industry. Aptly named the Skills Academy, the centre is situated in the chain’s Coventry building and is viewed as the first such facility of its kind.
