Hearty Contribution to British Heart Foundation

London-based specialist catering business Vacherin has raised in excess of £1,000 for the 50 year strong heart disease foundation.

Achieved by participating in the annual bike ride from London to Brighton, Vacherin’s team consisted of Clive Hetherington, Mark Philpott and Hamish Thorn, all of whom made the 60 mile distance in just short of five hours to earn themselves their well-deserved tea and cake.

Managing director for the catering company, Mark Philpott, said that the ride proved more challenging than the team anticipated, particularly the Ditchling Becon area. However the trio of gentlemen rose to the challenge and were able to make their £1,000 donation to the worthwhile cause.

Positioning itself as London’s finest caterer, Vacherin specialises in delivering food of the highest quality accompanied by an unrivalled service to its exclusive portfolio of clients across the UK capital.

Cardiovascular disease meanwhile is one of the primary causes of death in those under the age of 75 in the UK, with the British Heart Foundation playing an important role in the fight against heart and circulatory disease and constantly striving to lower these statistics.

With heart disease and diet so intrinsically linked, doctors have also recently raised alarm bells over the damage that following obsessive, low-calorie diets can have on long-term health. With an estimated 12 million people following dietary regimes, such statistics could prove devastating for the nation’s health, with doctors urging that the focus needs to shift from calorie intake towards the types of foods and nutrients necessary in remaining healthy.
