Are you set for the Bank Holiday rush?

Can you hear that faint sound on the horizon? That, my friends, is the alluring call of the Bank Holiday weekend and this time around it is set to attract people in droves to restaurants, cafes, bars and other such establishments.

And there isn’t going to ‘just’ be a mild upturn in revenue either.

A recent survey predicts customers are going to spend 120% more over the next few days than they would on a normal weekend.

Three cheers for Bank Holidays!

It’s just a shame that it’s going to be the last one for 92 days…

There really should be a Bank Holiday during autumn; spring, summer and winter get all the fun. But anyway, that’s enough wandering off the immediate topic for the moment….

By all accounts, the average Briton will be forking out nearly £215 over the course of this extra-length weekend. The normal outlay is just £94, the survey states.

Unsurprisingly, eating out was noted as a preferred habit over three day weekends.

It also seems that we are rather fond of spending money, as we spend “more than double the amount we usually would,” as we try and take advantage of the extra day off work.

As a nation how much are we going to be spending? The figure could top £1.91bn, but that substantially large amount includes other expenditure such as day trips and entrance fees to attractions.

As noted, dining out in the evening was put down as a popular Bank Holiday pastime, but it’s not just our dinner that we like to enjoy out of the house. Going out for lunch and breakfast were also mentioned and figured prominently, meaning that half of our six favoured activities involve visiting somewhere to enjoy a meal out.

Somewhat surprisingly (or unsurprisingly), where you are in the country has an effect on how much you are likely to spend.

It seems that those in the West Midlands are more likely to spend much more than Londoners.

But there’s a special mention to those from Yorkshire, otherwise known as Gods own County, who will be spending nearly 100% more than they usually would!

Are you ready for that onslaught?

The clock is ticking.
