Induction Hobs

The jewel in the crown of many kitchens, an induction hob is unlike anything you've ever cooked with before. It's all thanks to an ingenious use of science and technology.

Firstly, let's explain in basic terms how this type of hob operates, and why they are cheaper to run, quicker than other hobs and perfect for your kitchen.

How do they work?

Induction hobs use powered electromagnets which heat the underside of pans. They ensure that heat is only supplied to the pan and not to the hob top surface itself. This means that the heating process is more efficient, with less heat loss than other cooking methods.

The design of induction hob appliances is also simple, which allows them to be flexibly fitted in more places. There are many different sizes available. Some with various features that make cooking quicker, easier and more efficient.

Induction vs Electric Hob - Whats the difference?

The magnetic coil underneath the induction cooker remains cool until the pan is placed on top.

Electric hobs heat an element that transfers to the pan. This causes a high temperature to be generated, but much of it is lost or absorbed by the air or surrounding unit.

The ceramic surface of this variant means that whilst a pan is placed upon the unit, heat transferred is direct. Much less electricity is needed to reach cooking temperatures, meaning lower bills and faster cooking.

Oven Ranges

Becoming potentially a bit more familiar, an induction oven range is a set of heating elements built in to the top of an oven. This provides an all in one solution, with cooking zones on top and an integrated oven below. These allow ultimate control, having various different areas to cook and controls for each part.

Induction Woks

These are similar to a regular induction hob, however they are designed specifically for heating woks, with the shape of the cooking zone being specifically tailored to heat a wok efficiently and evenly. The unique shape of a wok can fit in snugly and be stable, secure and heated to your precise requirements.
