With the Daily Express reporting that we are just a few short days away from the hottest summer in 100 years, it makes sense to check if your business is fully prepared for the scorching season ahead.

It is being reported that we are likely to see temperatures of at least 30°C at the start of June! With the rest of the summer hotting up even further!

Longer, hotter days mean people are more likely to venture outdoors and a cracking outdoor space to sit, drink and eat is an enticing prospect.

It’s probably about time to get your business set to cash-in on the summer season, but are you summer ready?

Use your outside space

With the sun shining, and the warm weather, sitting inside is likely not to cut it for your customers.

Use the outside space you have available, a few chairs, parasols and benches can vastly improve your chances of enticing custom.

A few well placed plants, flowers and outdoor arrangements are a great way to attract more people to your venue.

Not only a place for seating, drinking and eating, take your preparation outside!

Consider offering an outdoor barbecue option. Barbecues generate amazing smells that will no doubt see customers flock to dine at your establishment.

There are downsides to increasing usage of your outside space, so ensure that you can cope with an increase in table numbers, new layout and problems this could potentially cause.

Check that any changes or maintenance work that needs to be carried out has been done, loose paving slabs, broken or damaged chairs and tables are replaced or repaired, ensure you have adequate sun protection like parasols and umbrellas.

It’s important to consider more than just the potential increased business.

Keep it cool

With sweltering temperatures, your customers will be desperate for anything from cold drinks to ice-creams and smoothies.

It’s likely that hot drinks and food are not priority to those spending a few hours in the sun, something quick, cool and refreshing is likely to be top of their shopping list.

Make sure you offer a wide range of products to cover all the main bases, a fully stocked chill cabinet, chest freezer and a shiny slush machine are likely to see customers flock when the temperature ticks over the 20°C mark.

Offering take-away cool drinks and ice-cream options might be an easy option that really boosts your summer prospects.

Enjoy it!
