If you’ve ever thought “my olive oil isn’t quite what the Greek gods would be proud of”, well a Stockholm based olive producer has taken our lust for all things godlike to a new level.

Olive oil producer, Myst, has developed a brand new virgin olive oil infused with 24 karat gold flakes.

Organically cultivated in the historic olive groves of Mount Olympus, in central Greece, this is clearly the olive oil that Zeus himself would be drizzling on his salads.

A truly gourmet olive oil, Myst decided to add the 24 karat gold flakes to create an even more luxury product.

“Our extra virgin olive oil is produced first by the method of cold extraction at low temperatures under closely monitored hygienic conditions,” Myst explained to FoodBev Media.

“We stayed true to the words ‘extra virgin’ by steering away from using any chemical fertilisers or pesticides at any stage of the production.”

All olives used to make this luxury product are grown within the the olive groves of Mount Olympus, with the entire production of the oils being made from the pierias olive variety.

This provides a fruity flavour with a superb aroma with a low acidity of between 0.2% and 0.5%.

Listed on their website at a cost of $69, this is definitely not aimed at the average cook or budding chef, the addition of gold flakes to an already high-end product further enhances the exclusivity factor.

Somewhat similar to the variety of gold infused alcoholic drinks, Myst has created an ingredient that can be used at high-end establishments looking for that extra bit of showmanship when preparing dishes for customers.

With a shelf life of two years, and an incredibly premium price tag, we are sure that there are plenty of suitors looking to add this enticing ‘liquid gold’ to their kitchen arsenal.
