a drink to cure hangovers

How often do we go out and say we’re ‘taking it easy’ or we have ‘an early start’, only to roll home from a wild night out at 3am the next morning?

Well our days of feeling like a hungover mess for days at a time are hopefully over, if the introduction of a new drink from Birmingham based Aftamath have any say in it.

Aftamath have developed a new drink aimed at curing the hangover, with a series of ingredients that dissolve the compound that causes us to feel terrible after a big night out.

At only 140ml per can, this is supposed to be a small but powerful hangover-relieving boost.

The key ingredient of this mixed fruit flavour drink is a globefish protein extract, which decreases the amount of acetaldehyde in the body and promotes aledhyde dehydogenase, which ‘dissolves’ acetaldehyde and helps to cure hangovers.

This extract is also said to reduce the amount of alcohol in the bloodstream by activating the bodily systems that break down the alcohol molecule.

A turmeric extract within the drink also helps the improve liver alcohol absorption.

It is stated by Aftamath that taking the drink every day could help improve the damaged liver and hyperlipidaemia caused by long-term habitual drinking.

The drink company recommends that users take one drink 30 minutes before alcohol consumption (before the party) or one can after you have consumed your last alcoholic drink (at the end of the night).

But they also state that the drink can be used as a mixer for cocktails or with drinks such as whiskey, vodka and gin. Their website states that for optimum effects a user should drink the beverage before alcohol consumption and again after alcohol consumption.

It must be noted that the company can do nothing for your lack of sleep, which is the major cause of discomfort for many drinkers out there.

Whilst we remain skeptical that this will rid you completely of a hangover, if this drink can take the major edge of a hangover then we’re sold!
